2023 was a very good reading year for me. My Goodreads goal was 150 books, my final books count was 240 books. You may be asking yourself, “how did she do that?'“ And the answer would be that i have no freaking clue.
I read so many good books this year, and this list was so hard to narrow down but without further ado and in no particular order because i just couldn’t rank them lol, here we go!
Anastasia by Sophia Lark 5/5 stars
I am a sucker for anything that has to do with the Romanov family so this was right up my alley. The setting, the characters, the story, i just loved!
The Wicked King by Holly Black 5/5 stars
I truly didn’t think i would love this trilogy as much as i did but wow. This book especially blew me out of the water. Cardan and June are two of the most well written characters i’ve ever read and i wish i could read it for the first time again.
Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi 5/5 stars
Oh. My. Giddy. Aunt. i don’t care that a lot of people think this series is awful, i had such a fun time reading it. This one was my favorite and ugh i just loved it. Aaron Warner, you are one of the only blonde fictional men i really love lol.
Postcards From Summer by Cynthia Platt 5/5 stars
I am a sucker for a dual timeline and this book definitely delivered. I don’t want to spoil anything but give it a read!
Begin Again by Emma Lord 5/5 stars
The man in this this book has sea green eyes and a coffee addiction, need i say more?
Reckless by Elsie Silver 5/5 stars
I have a confession to make, I really love cowboy romances. And i really want to go to Montana and ride horses now. Anyway 10/10, send a cowboy my way please. (lolololol)
Forget Me Not by Julie Soto 4/5 stars
Give me a book that has something to do with a wedding and i am all in. Florist x wedding planner. Ugh all the feels!
Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros 5/5 stars
I will admit, i was a little skeptical to read this. It was really popular on TikTok and i wasn’t going to give in the hype but i did. And wow, am i glad that i read this. It gave me dragons, it gave me banter, it gave me suspense. My family was gathered at my aunts for a pool day and i literally spent all day inside reading this lol. I loved it.
Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross 5/5 stars
Again, another banger by an author named Rebecca. The banter, the suspense, the magic was all amazing. Iris was such a well written character, i could have stayed with her words forever.
Chalice of the gods by Rick Riordan 5/5 stars
It has been twelve years since i read Percy Jackson and the Olympians. I was twelve when i read them and i feel like i grew up with Percy. Reading this transported me back to when i was a child again and i loved it. Rick Riordan is definitely one of my comfort authors and it felt like going home reading this book.
The Right Move by Liz Tomforde 5/5 stars
I am also a sucker for sports romances. Do i like sports? Not particularly. (we’re not going to talk about my recent interest in football) I got butterflies reading this and ugh it was just so good.
Float by Kate Marchant 5/5 stars
I typically don’t reach for YA anymore, as i have outgrown it. But this book really changed my mind on that. It was perfect summer vibes, the witty banter was on point, i actually really enjoyed it.
Check and Mate by Ali Hazelwood 5/5 stars
Another instance of me picking up a YA book unexpectedly lol. But when i tell you that i could not put this book down, i really couldn’t. I read this at work all day and told my coworkers to leave me alone lol. Such an amazing story and surprisingly i enjoyed the tidbits about chess.
The Blonde Identity by Ally Carter 5/5 stars (or more specifically 1000000000000/5 stars)
Those who know me know what a huge fan i am of the Gallagher Girls series by this same author, and boy was i excited when this book was announced. It completely blew my expectations out of the water, i loved it so much. This was basically an adult Gallagher Girls book and it was wonderful.
The Last War We Ever Fought by Wendy Heiss 5/5 stars
This was a novella that i did not expect to love as much as i did. When i finished this, it sent me into a reading slump for about a week. The way Wendy Heiss writes is so beautiful and so moving. I would definitely recommend.
And there you have it! My top books from 2023. And what i have learned from this is that i really should write reviews so i remember what the books is about lol. Please tell me your favorite books from 2023! I definitely need more to read :D
